From Pastor Shaw 08/28

Posted in From the Pastors on Sunday, August 28th, 2011

We will be rallying behind our children and youth tonight in a special back-to-school service. I urge everyone to be here to stand behind our students as they go out to face the challenges of this new year.

Wednesdays are an important part of the ministry of New Life. I want to encourage everyone to attend Wednesday service. This Wednesday is fifth Wednesday. (See insert for more details.) An inexpensive meal will be served before service, and we will have ministry for children and adults. Bro. Bernard will be speaking. In September I will be teaching a series on Wednesdays on the book of Habakkuk. The children will have separate sessions. You will be blessed by Habakkuk!

A Study of Habakkuk

Posted in News on Friday, August 26th, 2011

Life often doesn’t go the way we want. Relationships fail. Finances fail. Heath fails. And more. We look out on a world gone wrong, and it just doesn’t make sense. After all, isn’t God good and in control?

Whether we’re accusing God or just confused, we’ve all asked, “Why, God?”

The prophet Habakkuk looked around his world and saw nothing but oppression and injustice. God seemed absent, and Habakkuk was confused. As Habakkuk asked God why, God answered him and told him how to deal with life when it doesn’t make sense.

On Wednesdays beginning September 7, Pastor Shaw will be teaching a series on the book of Habakkuk. Join us as we explore this book and discover God’s answer.

From Pastor Shaw 08/21

Posted in From the Pastors on Sunday, August 21st, 2011

On Friday we closed on the sale of our building. This is an answer to prayer, and the timing is perfect! An earlier closing would have cost us much more in lease payments, and it would have required us to relocate temporarily. Selling our building was the last major hurdle. We are now able to complete the first phase of our building, and we will relocate early in 2012. The plan to move our furnishings and relocate our ministries will require a lot of work. Please be in prayer for the Lord's guidance.

Please join me in welcoming the Thompsons to Austin and to New Life. It will take time for them to get to know everyone and familiarize themselves with Austin. They will need our help.
